ECHA expands SVHC Candidate List with 2 new substances – check your BOMs now
In February 2026 the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has added two additional substances to the SVHC Candidate List – it now contains 253 entries. The update is now available in your Substantio software – you can check your BOMs and material data directly against the updated list.

The 2 new SVHCs in detail
n-Hexane – CAS 110-54-3
What is n-hexane? A volatile solvent used to dissolve and remove non-polar residues (e.g., oils, grease).
Where is it used?
Cleaning and degreasing agents
Solvent-based formulations (coatings, adhesives, sealants)
Why is it problematic? n-Hexane is associated with health risks from repeated exposure, including effects on the nervous system.
Bisphenol AF (BPAF) – CAS 1478-61-1
Full name: 4,4′-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethylidene]diphenol and its salts
What is BPAF? A bisphenol used as a process regulator and/or cross-linking component in certain polymer applications.
Where is it used?
- Polymer processing
- Cross-linking in fluoroelastomers (specialty rubber, sealing applications)
Why is it problematic? This substance is in focus due to reproductive toxicity.
